1. Admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable. 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care and direction of God as we understood Him. 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 6. Were entirely willing that God remove all these defects of character. 7. Humbly, on our knees, asked Him to remove our shortcomings - holding nothing back. 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make complete amends to them all. 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. |
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual experience as the result of this course of action, we tried to carry this message to others, especially alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

"When I had one year clean, I attended my first (NA), Narcotics Anonymous Convention. It was a life changing experience. The first year of sobriety is the hardest. About 5 thousand people attended that Convention in 1995. On the last night of the Convention, there was an Award Ceremony for clean time. Everyone got something. It was amazing. As I looked around that auditorium, I was amazed at how many people were there. I was happy they/we were alive, and celebrating that life. I saw a young lady I was in Treatment with a year before; she had relapsed and now had "14 days clean." When I saw her she asked me how much time I had clean, I said, "a year." She said, "i only got 14 days clean. |
I recalled how whenever I met someone there, we shake hands introduce ourselves, but the next thing they would ask is, "how much time you got?" The person with the most time would proudly proclaim their time, and thus the one with the least time would say, " I only got .....days clean." I guess they felt less than the person with more. I started responding by saying, if you only got one day clean, "Celebrate Life." This became my first and theme song for my 1st Addiction/Recovery CD. I have written so much music since then and am proud to present it to the world. We are all affected by alcoholism and drug addiction, directly or indirectly. Everybody has a friend or family member suffering from the disease of Addiction." |
Addiction Crosses Every Age, Race, Social Class and Gender; it knows no bounds, it is not prejudice and does not discriminate!
Addiction is cunning, baffling and powerful, but recovery is possible. I have seen the many faces of those who have overcome alongside myself. So can you or your friend or loved one can see it too and understand addiction through these songs.
This music can help. I use my own experiences with addiction, plus experiences of others while composing this music. I've used it in professional setting with great response and results.
I have created a therapeutic workbook to go with the songs on the cd. Each song the lyrics are explained and how the song came into being. There are 4 exercises around each song.
1) RELAPSE PREVENTION, 2) A 12 STEP exercise 3) How can you relate exercise and 3) a group process sheet to go in the clients file stating what they got out of the group and how it will help them in their recovery. These exercises will help those dealing with addiction identify the emotions underlying their addiction face them and recover!
